Mistake 4. Pouring out every last drop immediately

It is common to transfer all freshly boiled water into a flask or bottle. However, doing this right after the heating cycle can stress the thermal relay. The bottom of the kettle is still extremely hot. With no liquid left inside, the residual heat builds up. Over time, this repetitive pattern can warp components and shorten the kettle’s working life.
Leaving a small amount of water in the bottom and emptying it only before the next use helps the kettle cool gradually. A quick rinse before refilling keeps it clean and ready.
Mistake 5. Neglecting regular cleaning
Any kettle that runs on tap water will eventually develop limescale. The interior slowly becomes coated with a chalky or yellowish film. This does not only change the taste of the water. It interferes with the kettle’s heating efficiency and can become a hygiene concern.
