In Japan, many people wear socks almost year-round—including during sleep. Interestingly, Japan also boasts the highest average life expectancy in the world. For 20 consecutive years, the country’s life expectancy has remained around 84.6 years. Scientists believe that the habit of keeping the feet warm, including wearing socks to bed, may be one of the factors associated with better health and longer life.
