People could soon be able to regrow lost teeth!

A team of doctors in Japan has developed a groundbreaking drug that could enable people to naturally grow new teeth.

Instead of resorting to dentures or implants, this treatment activates the body's own ability to form new teeth. The research is led by Dr. Katsu Takahashi at the Medical Research Institute of Kitano Hospital. His team discovered that by blocking the protein USAG-1—which normally prevents the formation of additional teeth—tooth growth can be stimulated. The treatment was successful in experiments with mice. Clinical trials in humans are currently being prepared to make the therapy available by 2030.
