Imagine: you arrive at your car, in a hurry, you open the door and get in. A few meters further on, a sound of plastic bursting. By reflex, you brake, get out to check… and the car disappears. Terrifying, but avoidable. Here's how not to fall into this clever trap and, above all, how to react without putting your safety at risk.
The trap explained simply

Some thieves use a frighteningly simple method: they wedge a small plastic bottle (or sometimes a can, or even a stone) between the front wheel and the chassis, on the passenger side.
When the car starts, the object gets stuck and causes a loud cracking sound, similar to a mechanical breakdown. The driver then stops to inspect, often leaving the vehicle unlocked and the keys in the ignition. In a few seconds, the thief takes it. This technique relies on surprise and the natural reflex to immediately check the source of the noise.
