Origin and popular name “Kamitetep”
The term “Kamitetep” is not scientific, but a popular name that has been passed down through generations in several Latin American countries. Many families use it to refer to those small moths that are often found on walls, especially at night when artificial light attracts them.
In reality, these moths may belong to different species of the Pyralidae or Tineidae family , which include the well-known clothes moths or food moths.
