“I knew you would eventually open this room,” she said.

Marco froze, still holding the letter.

Because he knew that from that moment on…

nothing would ever return to the way it was.

And the secret Doña Teresa had hidden for so long was about to be revealed.

PART 3 — The Secret That Could No Longer Be Hidden

The room was silent as Marco stood in the middle of it, holding the letter written by his late wife.

Behind him, Doña Teresa slowly entered and closed the door.

The light in the room cast faint shadows across their faces.

“Have you read it?” the old woman asked coldly.

Marco did not answer immediately.

His hands trembled slightly as he stared at the paper.

The words written there echoed again and again in his mind.

In the letter, his wife had clearly written something he had never imagined before.

Before she died…

she had discovered a secret about her own mother.

Marco slowly raised his eyes toward Doña Teresa.

“Why?” he asked quietly.
“Why did you hide all of this?”

The old woman was silent for a moment.

Then she walked toward the window and looked out at the dark garden of the mansion in Batangas City, Philippines.

“You wouldn’t understand,” she replied.

But Marco did not stop.

“She knew you had done something,” he said, still holding the letter.
“Is that why she died?”

The silence in the room grew heavy again.

It took a long time before Doña Teresa spoke.

“There was an accident,” she said calmly.
“But not every accident is simply an accident.”

Marco’s eyes widened.

Because the way she spoke…

it seemed that part of the truth was still being hidden.

In his wife’s letter, there was one line that kept echoing in his mind.

“If anything happens to me, find the truth… even if it causes pain.”

Marco tightened his grip on the letter.

At last, he understood why Doña Teresa had married him after his wife died.

It was not because of love.

But because of fear.

Fear that one day he would discover the secret the family had hidden for so long.

But now it was too late.

Because he had already read the letter.
