Flushing the toilet: an action that consumes a lot of water
Most people don’t know this, but flushing a toilet uses an average of 3 to 9 liters of drinking water. Yes, drinking water, the same water you drink.
Now imagine: if one person goes to the toilet several times a day, and an entire family does the same, that represents tens of liters of water used daily just for flushing.
Over a year, this can amount to tens of thousands of liters. That’s enormous for an action that could sometimes be easily avoided.
A simple rule that many families adopt
There is a very simple rule, already adopted by many people concerned about reducing their water consumption:
“If it’s yellow, we wait. If it’s brown, we flush.”
In other words, it is not necessary to flush every time you go to urinate, but only when it is really necessary.
This may seem surprising at first, but many households are gradually adopting this habit, especially as a way to save water and reduce expenses.
And what about hygiene in all of this?
This is often the first question everyone asks. In reality, as long as the toilets are cleaned regularly, there is no particular hygiene problem.
The important thing is to:
clean the toilet regularly
ventilate the bathroom
You can optionally use an air freshener or a few drops of essential oil
Flush regularly despite everything, not just once a day
The idea is not to never flush, but simply not to do it systematically every time.
How to easily avoid bad smells
Many people are afraid of smells, but there are very simple solutions.
For example :
put a few drops of lemon or lavender essential oil near the toilet
use a natural block in the toilet bowl
Clean the toilet bowl quickly every two days
leave a window open for a few minutes each day
With these small habits, the bathroom stays clean and pleasant without difficulty.
