There are intestinal parasites called pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis). Their appearance is more common during childhood. They are small white worms that can cause an itchy sensation, especially at night, which often interrupts the child’s rest.

The infection begins when the microscopic eggs of the parasite are ingested. These can be found on toys, bedding, household surfaces, or even under fingernails.
