The most common possibilities are:
1. Cherry angiomas (most likely)
These are:
- Small benign clusters of blood vessels
- Bright red or dark red
- Slightly raised or dome-shaped
- Common on adults, especially after age 20–30
They are harmless in most cases and do not spread dangerously. People can develop a few or many over time.
2. Less likely: small vascular skin lesions
Other similar benign conditions include:
- Angiokeratomas
- Minor vascular growths under the skin
These also usually are not dangerous.
3. Less likely: petechiae (important to rule out)
Petechiae are tiny red/purple spots caused by small blood vessel leakage. They are usually:
- Flat, not raised
- Often very small (like pinpoints)
- Do not blanch when pressed
These are more concerning if they appear suddenly and in large numbers, especially with symptoms like fever or weakness.
